Portland Leather Goods was established in 2015 when Curtis Matsko began creating leather goods in his Portland garage with a straightforward aim: to produce elegantly simple, high-quality leather bags at an affordable price. Initially a solo endeavor, it has evolved into a global community of leather enthusiasts, artisans, and loyal customers who believe that excellent design should be within reach. We specialize in simply designed leather bags and accessories, including crossbody bags, tote bags, backpacks, wallets, journals, and everyday carry essentials. Our focus is on clean lines, functional design, and authentic leather that looks, feels, and smells as leather should. We source our hides from the beef industry, giving materials that would otherwise be discarded a new purpose. Our leather is tanned in award-winning facilities that emphasize environmentally responsible practices. Since our bags are crafted from real leather, not synthetically coated or painted, natural markings such as spots, grain variation, and occasional scars make each piece unique. We run our artisan workshop, The Studio, in León, Mexico, close to two of the most esteemed tanneries in North America. This proximity allows us to uphold high standards, minimize environmental impact, and cultivate enduring relationships with those who create our products. Today, Portland Leather Goods continues to expand through word of mouth and a dedicated customer base who value simple design, sturdy materials, and fair pricing. Our business thrives on people, from our artisans to our customer support team to the community that proudly showcases their bags every day.
